Inspector
This position is for construction inspection in both our Lake Geneva and Racine offices. The Inspector is the eyes and ears of the construction engineer. This position has the authority to reject materials supplied, to reject work done which does not conform to the intent of the plans and specifications, and to keep accurate documentation of the amount, quality and methods used for work completed. Key Duties
- Review and understand work schedule and specifications of the job to be assigned.
- Serves as a liaison between the contractor and construction engineer, getting directions from the construction engineer on change to plans.
- Serves as a liaison between residents and owner, listening to resident’s concerns and passing them along to the construction engineer.
- Inspect all materials and work performed for adherence to project specifications. This includes observing the work being done and taking notes, measurements and sketches.
- Complete daily report, test reports and maintain punch list.
- Collect certificates and manuals that come with materials and equipment.
- Review project at closeout; review for completion of items on the punch list, verify final quantities and document any changes or agreements.
Qualifications
- High School or equivalent. Post high school education in civil engineering technology is desired.
- Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions, or uneven terrain, and in dusty/dirty conditions. Must be able to stand for long periods at a time. Must be able to regularly lift a manhole cover, ranging from 45-85 pounds.
